This function does thin the data by rounding the observer and expected -log10 p-values to two places by default. When you pass in a list, the number of tests the confidence interval uses is determined by the vector with the least number of p-values - this gives the widest, most conservative confidence bands. Note that the confidence interval drawn depends on the total number of p-values given. If you wish to disable the confidence interval, use nf=F in your call to ot(). You can change that with the conf.points= parameter and you can change the alpha level from the default. The default settings will draw confidence intervals around the 1000 more significant points. The confidence intervals are calculated using the fact that the standard uniform order statistics follow a beta distribution. The names used in the legend correspond to the names of the elements in the list you pass in. Furthermore, you can use any of the lattice methods of adding a legend to your plot. Internally the different groups are drawn using the lattice superpose settings, so if you want more control over the color and shapes, you can use the par.settings=list(superpose.symbol=) settings. 90 )) ot ( my.pvalue.list, auto.key = list ( corner = c (. 05, ansformed = FALSE, pch = 20, aspect = "iso", prepanel = prepanel.qqunif, par.settings = list ( superpose.symbol = list ( pch = pch )). Library ( lattice ) ot <- function ( pvalues, should.thin = T, = 2, = 2, xlab = expression ( paste ( "Expected (", - log, " p-value)" )), ylab = expression ( paste ( "Observed (", - log, " p-value)" )), nf = TRUE, conf.points = 1000, l = "lightgray", conf.alpha =. Here is some code which will do that with some sample data: However, we must specify the correct function for the -log10 uniform ourself. Many of the quantile functions for the standard distributions are built in (qnorm, qt, qbeta, qgamma, qunif, etc). It can make a quantile-quantile plot for any distribution as long as you supply it with the correct quantile function. The easiest way to create a -log10 qq-plot is with the qqmath function in the lattice package. ![]() The NREMT exam is different for each level of EMS work, from basic to intermediate to paramedic. Being able to respond under pressure to questions on the exam is a good first indicator that you will also be able to keep your cool on calls. Do you really want to skate by in your EMS studies, or do you want to feel confident when you’re in the field managing emergencies? One way to know you can handle what’s thrown at you is to nail the NREMT test. Heck, even if your department doesn’t require it, you may feel like you owe it to your patients to bring your “A” game every time you respond to a call. Even if the state doesn’t require EMTs to take the NREMT exam, some smart departments ask their EMS candidates to take it anyway to make sure they know their stuff. Some states do not require the NREMT test, or they only require it to start work as an EMT, waiving it for recertification.
Here’s a run down of XtraFinder features: XtraFinder add Tabs and other features to Mac OS X Finder I have ceased using TotalFinder and switched to XtraFinder. It’s free, and it works fine according to my use of it. If you’ve not updated to Mavericks (I haven’t) and you don’t want to dish out money for TotalFinder, here’s a great alternative. Of course Mavericks has tabs built right in (Apple finally caught on). It added things like tabs, and other handy features. In that post I recommended TotalFinder as a great addition to Finder. If you have any other suggestions please let us know in the comments below. Some time ago I wrote a popular post on Finder replacements or alternatives on OS X. I’m sure there are other options for getting those colors back. But I still found myself going back to Path Finder. I tried TotalFinder years ago and liked it quite a bit. I don’t have TotalFinder installed anywhere so this image came from the TotalFinder website. For $18 you can get quite a few other nice things added into the Finder as well. That’s some very handy stuff for free.Īnother one that even says “brings colored labels back to your Finder” right on the top of their webpage is TotalFinder. XtraFinder does a great job of making icon view color labels bold and easy to see.īeyond those colored labels there’s a very useful Dual Window option in the XtraFinder menu bar that tiles two windows either vertical or horizontal for easy moving between them. That’s nice and viewable labels in list view. ![]() XtraFinder is probably the easiest way to get those list label colors back as this free Finder add-on is very unobtrusive as it doesn’t take over the whole Finder the way Path Finder does. Path Finder makes the icon view labels much better as well. Path Finder rocks and the upcoming version 7 will have Dropbox integration. Path Finder has been a part of Useful Tools for Editors in the past and this just keeps it my favorite go-to tool as a Finder replacement.īig, bright and easy to see. Path Finder does so much it’d take someone smarter than me to list all the amazing features but keeping the colored labels is the thing we’re looking at here. Of course there’s the $40 Path Finder from Cocoatech. Leave it to third party products to get those nice colored labels back and easy to see. Tagging has been available for years via the awesome Finder replacement Pathfinder but I didn’t use it there either. ![]() All I did was notice that the bright, colorful labels that used to be available in Finder list view are now just tiny dots.Įven in icon view the colors are reduced to dots in Mavericks. ![]() With Mavericks Apple gave us tagging which might very well be infinitely more useful than just colored labels but to be honest I haven’t really used it. ![]() These tiny colored dots just aren’t useful when it comes to quick, at-a-glance, organization. While tags are useful in their own right Mavericks took away the nice, big, easily seen colored labels that we have come to know, love and rely on. Colors are still there but a lot less useful. With Mavericks, Apple changed this behavior and made these colored labels much less easy to see by removing them entirely in favor of tags. They were big, bright colors that were easy to identify, especially in list view. Any readers out there who are using the Mac OS and editing video have probably made good use of Mac OS Finder labels over the years to assign a designated color to a folder, file or group of files for whatever reason one might color anything. ![]() The two have the good kind of tension, and I really liked Ben’s meek attempt at flirting. Seeing cold-hearted Ben come around to this fact at the end really made the episode for me. The world would be a better place if everyone believed their jobs are as important as Leslie Knope believes hers is. Repeatedly, P&R has shown that public servants working passionately to provide a service, even a tiny one, can really make a difference. The conclusion between Leslie and Ben – I thought this episode served as a nice showcase of one of the core values of this show this season (especially compared to the more demeaning season 1), the idea that Leslie’s optimism is something to be admired.(Edit: The producer’s cut of this episode on Hulu does a slightly bit of a better job fleshing this relationship out.) But here, Tom was again unleashed: from bragging about his sex at the concert to being a sketch-ball when Leslie knocked on his door, it’s hard for me to see Lucy’s continued attraction to him. ![]() Last week’s scene of the two meeting and deciding to go out was a really nice moment for Aziz Ansari. ![]() Tom’s behavior around Lucy – I love the actress chosen to play Lucy, and I love the idea of Tom with a girlfriend.Schneider and Amy Poehler’s chemistry in the last scene of “Freddy Spaghetti” was quite excellent. I think it’s a bit of a shame that the writers didn’t give a Leslie-Mark coupling more of a shot. He transformed from sleazeball with a sort of weird vibe with Leslie to a dull straight man shoved to the side as Ann’s boyfriend. The reason his farewell bothered me in this episode was not because of how he was used here so much as how he was used the past two seasons. The overall boringness of Mark – The writers never really knew what to do with Paul Schneider. ![]() She works better when she’s a kind-hearted but skeptical straight-woman foil to Leslie than when she’s working on her own personal life. A year ago, she was the most likable character on the show, and now that’s flipped. She kind of ruined the great April-Andy moment and doesn’t seem to have much of a beneficial role on the show.

The unique feature of the modal box is the fact that it disables the main window in the browser but keeps it visible, with the modal window showing as a child window in front of the web. For my project, I need a card with information to open when a line from a table gets a click. We do this by creating an a tag, adding a closeBtn ID to it and creating an onclick event handler that references the function that closes the modal. When you click in something, it opens a window with information. Lastly, we created a function called removeCustomAlert() to close the modal box.We did something similar to the body of the modal, by creating a p tag and assigning a text node to it. Thank to pop me out of that button, but now im done so you can close this window. The titleAlert text variable is then appended to the h1 tag to show the "It Pops!!!" message.Popup/Modal Windows without JavaScript.

The rest of it was perfect, but that 5% was really annoying. In my case, around 5% of my collection ended up in iCloud with bad or missing cover art, or duplicate tracks. Apple quickly fixed some of the major issues, but duplicate tracks and bad cover art continue to be a problem for some. The worst problems turned out to be a mix of bad engineering and users not understanding how the service worked. For those of us who had spent years finessing large collections into perfect shape, this was a non-starter. But a lot of people were complaining about botched metadata, duplicate tracks, and ridiculously wrong cover art. Brilliant.īut while the core service was brilliant, the other shoe dropped almost immediately after launch - people were getting some really weird results with iCloud Music Library, the component that lets you upload your existing collection into their cloud. Check out this “ Influences on Talking Heads” playlist they laid on me one day - if this isn’t playlist nirvana, I don’t know what is. And within days of starting to use it, Apple Music was putting incredible stuff in front of me - absolutely nailing my tastes. No more “People who like this also liked that” algorithmic baloney of other services, but a real investment in human editors and curators who could help with the “discovery” problem in a way that no chunk of code can. Not to mention access to expert human curation. All 30 million+ of their tracks at your fingertips, perfectly integrated with the familiar iTunes interface and your existing collection, available from any device. When Apple Music was announced, it promised to solve the “let me access my own music from the cloud” problem for once and for all. At its largest, the collection was almost 6x larger (though I’ve done some paring down in recent months). ![]() But when iTunes Match finally arrived, my collection was already 3x larger than its upper limit of 25k tracks allowed, so that was a non-starter (though I begged to be able to throw money at them for a larger quota). So, over to you! Have you ever had to do this? What tools do you think Dean should use, or avoid? Please share your thoughts and methods in the comments.Taming a Mammoth Music Collection (no, this is not me).īecause my collection includes a lot of obscure and out-of-print music digitized from LP and other sources, Spotify and rdio were never options I loved (and I didn’t want to start over!) All I ever wanted was a good cloud-based solution for iTunes. ![]() To be honest, I am not experienced in such high-volume file management (for club DJs I recommend much, much smaller collections), so I’d love to ask our karaoke / video / mobile DJ readers what they do or what they’d do in this situation. Not sure how this would work for karaoke or video. If not, look at Audio Dedupe, although as I’ve always used iTunes to organise my music, it’s a tool I haven’t personally tried. You need a much smaller collection anyway in my view, but I’d say make a backup of the whole thing first, then try TuneUp! or DupeAway, assuming you’re organising your music in iTunes. Can you think of the best way to remove any dupes and put them on another hard drive? (That way I could go back and get them, if needed).” Digital DJ Tips says: I think I might have 25% duplicate songs. Now I have have a 2TB external drive full, with video and karaoke, too. ![]() Today’s Over To You comes from a mobile DJ, Dean, who says: “One question that I have is that I have been saving all my music for years and have crunched all my CDs to MP3. How would you advise a mobile DJ with audio, video and karaoke files to proceed? Deduping a large music collection can be time-consuming, confusing and unreliable. ![]() Scanning speed is one more important feature to consider, while you are choosing the best OCR scanner. Nevertheless, we recommend choosing the model with an OD rating of about 3.0. Scanners for common use may have no dynamic range ratings. ![]() In general terms, density range shows the brightest and the darkest recordings captured by your OCR scanner. 0 means an excellent white, 4 stands for irreproachable black. Many machines have a logarithmic scale from 0 to 4. This feature shows how good a scanner records a variety of tones. A 24-bit OCR document scanner ensures superior performance and is absolutely great for office use, although you should know that some models offer a color depth of 48 bits.ĭynamic range is also called density range or optical density (OD). So, a high color depth means that a machine can record and store large files precisely. The higher the depth is, the better the color gradations will be recorded. The color depth or bit depth shows how much information a scanner can capture in one pixel. Select the one with the highest resolution. Be aware that the majority of scanners allow you to set the preferable DPI. Usually, it is considered that the higher the DPI number, the better the device. It is measured in DPI (dots per inch) and shows how many pixels a scanner can capture. The optical resolution is a very important characteristic of an OCR scanner. Concerning the data input machines, they perform great when it is necessary to scan repetitive data in a document and do some formatting. The text input machines are mainly used for scanning the whole documents, as they can scan large packs of documents. All the OCR handheld scanners may be grouped into two categories: text input and data input. |
